This might be a weird thing to say but I started finding my own music I liked to listen to around middle school. I started out using shitty youtube to mp3 downloaders to put stuff onto cds, and at some point cassette ('cause they were kinda cool). I got my first phone around late middle, early high school, a hand-me-down Galaxy Grand Prime my mother got off the shopping channel. It was nice enough, physical home button, removable battery, I had a Kasane Teto wallpaper. It had a built in music player, and so I would start shifing to putting my music on there. Most of what I listened to back then was meme music, hardbass, eurobeat, siivagunner rips, and stuff like snail's house. I think I put stuff on my psp and 3ds at some point too, but for the most part my phone became my media player.

I eventually had to upgrade to an s6 edge (as it was the most similar to the grand prime, but was supported by a medical app I needed (which just means they didn't feel like buying a Grand Prime to test their app on but swagever.)) I can't remember if this one had the samsung music player on it, I might've had to download it manually. This did introduce a small issue though; switching over to a new phone means that I had to move all my music over to it too. This involved either plugging in both phones to a computer to transfer it over, or in most cases just building a new library based off of what was already on my PC and new stuff I would download.

Over the years I would get different phones (nothing ever expensive don't worry) for various reasons, such as a screen breaking, or parts that would break or stop working due to a manufacturing defect. Either way it became a hassle each time to move over songs and never really have a complete library. Ok so now my friend is really into Persona right, and the main character in persona 3 keeps a little mp3 player around his neck that looks like a li'l vial, and sony made a remarkably similar one that my friend sent my an ebay link for for $25 or so. I thought that moving my libary over to something that I wouldn't need to replace every year or so would be beneficial. I believe it was around my first year of college by this point in time

Ok so this thing has 512mb of storage, only works with sony's proprietary transfer software, and can only charge with micro-usb. But none of these factors really affect me. I only really put music I listen to on there, instead of whole albums or just filling it with things I'll barely ever listen to. The software isn't too much of a step over just drag-n-dropping, and it provides a medium in which I can enter track and artist info. And I always have a micro-usb plugged into my computer, whether it be for my card reader or a ps3 controller or whatnot. Lets get into the really good stuff about this thing though.

You can:

All with one hand. While not even looking at the player. The human factors in the design are just insanely good

Additional benifits include:

Some pros over streaming services are:

The japanese model even has a fucking mode that generates a playlist of songs similar to the one currently playing. It has an offline reccomended songs feature in 2005

Not to mention that it looks really cool !! It's got an oled screen that blends into the body when it's off, and one of the most y2k shell designs that I've ever seen. The build quality is really good too, the back is made of metal and the jog dial feels really nice to use
